The Breeds
Golden Valley poultry usually has a variety of near point of lay chickens for purchase
You can mix and match the different girls.
Our birds are mostly Rhode Island Red Crosses bred for their hardiness, placid good
nature, and egg laying ability.
(We are breeding selected pure breeds, from Buff Orpingtons to Polish Frizzles,
and many more, you can contact us to reserve.)
Our girls make wonderful family pets with the added benefits of getting your eggs
both fresh and free.
On most occasions we will have other Point of Lay varieties available, (up to
8 or 10 in the field) just for example: Light Sussex, French Marans, Rhode Island
Reds Black Tails whilst we normally keep the girls below.
Golden
Both placid and hardy she also lays large brown eggs. Over a year she will produce
around 300.
As was mentioned in Country Smallholder Magazine is that she is liable to break
into a trot chasing you, if you attempt to escape her loving attentions.

This is a top quality egg layer. Her egg shell quality is superb and she lays nearly
300 brown eggs per year.
Her colour ranges from all black with a green tint and copper feathers around the
neck and chest. A perfect free range bird.

calm bird that will produce up to 300 brown eggs for you during the year.
A beautiful cream colour, a great pet as well as a prolific layer
White

Neat and compact compared to some other breeds with a good personality and inquisitive
nature.

A very docile bird producing dark brown eggs which are usually speckled. She will produce around 270 eggs annually and has a beautiful full plumage.
Blue
A beautiful placid bluish bird. A good natured girl and will lay up to 250 brown eggs per annum.
